The BlackBerry Pearl 8220 is the official name of the highly anticipated flip smartphone by RIM.    Moving forward, it will no longer be referred to as the BlackBerry KickStart.  According to promo material for Rogers, the BlackBerry Pearl 8220 is sleek yet simple clamshell smartphone, loaded with WiFi to support Rogers Talkspot, media player, and a 2.0-megapixel camera.

The Pearl 8220 features dual high-resolution displays.  The internal color LCD is high-resolution with light sensor, while the external is a basic display for message review and auto-open messages when opening the flip.

The Pearl 8220 smartphone is backed by the power and service you’d expect from the BlackBerry brand, and yes, that includes the SureType QWERTY keyboard.  This is a world phone at heart (850/900/1800/1900) and Bluetooth.

The Pearl 8220’s target audience is everyone ranging from young urbanites to multi-tasking women and yes even mobile men.  It’s also god for students living away from home or at home on T-Mobile’s Unlimited HotSpot Calling or Rogers Talk Spot.  In RIM’s very own words, the BlackBerry Pearl 8220 is an “innovative product offering from RIM at an attractive price point for new Data virgin entrants.”
